“Watch carefully, the magic that occurs, when you give a person just enough comfort to be themselves.” —  Atticus

A little bit about Joyce

Joyce FirthJoyce Firth is an art professional and energy worker who facilitates experiences for self-discovery and well-being for people of all ages. With many years of teaching, and ongoing study of ancient Eastern traditions, Joyce is able to help individuals discover their unique path to learning and wellness through experiences with art and/or energy manipulation.

Before starting Art To Be Well, Joyce had a successful career in art education, teaching students from pre-K to college. She worked closely with the Renzullis of UCONN and administrators instituting models of Talented and Gifted education in several school systems throughout the country. She has been certified to teach in seven states, and is an experienced curriculum and Art Standards writer. Additionally, Joyce earned a National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Early Childhood Education.  As adjunct college Art staff, she participated in North West Coast Arts with the Alaskan native Tlingit people. Through her experience with this community she witnessed the healing power of nature that began her appreciation and study of alternative medicine and energy healing.  With time, experience and study, Joyce achieved a deeper understanding of the perception and psychology of ‘energy’ as it applies to the principles and elements of every day life. Knowing how visual art experiences lend themselves to the healing process, Joyce has been able to create experiences with art that lead not only to more powerful learning and self-discovery, but also to an opportunity to heal.

Joyce became an internationally certified Feng Shui consultant in 2004, and a certified Reiki energy worker in 2007. With advanced training, she is able to manipulate and arrange energy in ways that are beneficial to the health, well-being, and prosperity of recipients while throwing a little bit of “good luck” into the mix.  As a certified International ART4Healing© Facilitator, she is trained to guide workshop attendees through a series of art experiences that provide an opportunity for self-guided healing to occur in a gentle and compassionate environment.

A product of a musical family, Joyce has had a life-long interaction with vocal music. She has been a member of many choruses around the country, and has been an inspirational vocal soloist in local churches. She incorporates music and movement into many of her art and healing  experiences.
